S-League: Mildura City paints the town red

MILDURA City asserted its dominance over Mildura United in both senior grades of S-League soccer on Sunday.

In the Senior Men’s Grade, Nicholas Woods ran rampant with five goals out of his side’s 12 on its way to a 12-0 drubbing.

City held a 6-0 lead at half-time, going ahead in the 13th minute through Riley Aunger and stretching the lead to 3-0 after consecutive Christian Pollifrone strikes in the 20th and 30th minute.

Woods scored his first goal in the 37th minute and had another before the break with Lukas Pedder also scoring one of his two goals before the teams swapped ends.

Three more Woods goals, Pedder’s second and two Domenic Ghidinelli scores kept the City party going after half-time.

In the Senior Women, Simone Palamara bagged seven goals in a 19-0 win by Mildura City over the same opponent.

Gabi Martinez scored five goals herself with City 10-0 leaders at half-time.

Jorja Oborne scored a hat-trick, Macaila Britton (two goals) and Tiana Mosello and Tess Palamara also got in on the action.
