THE 2023 Sunraysia Football and Netball League fixture has been revised.
The original opening round of matches on April 22 has now been shifted as the Mildura and Irymple contest at Brian Weightman Oval unintentionally clashed with the Mildura Harness Racing Club’s Pacing Cup Carnival.
Essentially round 1 and round 3 have swapped on the draw, meaning the highly anticipated A Grade netball grand final rematch between Wentworth and Ouyen United won’t open the season.
The updated fixture, pictured below, now starts with Red Cliffs hosting Imperials at Quandong Park, Ouyen United playing Merbein at Underbool Oval, Robinvale Euston clashing with Wentworth at John James Oval, and South Mildura playing Irymple at Mildura Sporting Precinct. Mildura have the bye.
The SFNL explored options of changing the Mildura and Irymple contest to Sarah Oval or to a Sunday clash at MSP, however neither option came to fruition.
South Mildura’s night game against Irymple will now be against Imperials in Round 3.
The corresponding matches between clubs at rounds 10 and 12 will remain the same as prior to the amendment.
