Swallows soar

IRYMPLE has once again proven the SFNL’s most successful football club, making all but one of the junior and senior grand finals this Saturday.

The Swallows will field teams in the deciders of the seniors, reserves, under 18 and under-14 competitions.

It comes after the club made the grand finals in seniors, reserves, under 16s and under 14 colts in the previous full season three years ago.

Seniors playing co-coach Dan Coghlan said a well-established junior pathway was behind the club’s success.

“The junior program has been run very well for many years, and it’s helped ensure the club has remained successful,” he said.

“If you look at our senior list, a lot of the players are local guys who have come through juniors together.

“It probably doesn’t get the full recognition it deserves, but we’re very proud of the depth in our club.”
