Eagles fly over Roos in SFNL semi final

ROBINVALE Euston advanced to the SFNL preliminary final after a 20 point win over a brave Wentworth at Ouyen’s Blackburn Park on Saturday.

The Eagles stormed out to a 37 point lead at quarter time and had kicked 11 goals to two at half time in a barnstorming return to form.

But Wentworth responded to kick nine goals to three in the second half to fight the game out, with the final score 14.9 (93) to 11.7 (73).

The Eagles will now play the loser of next weekend’s semi final between Irymple and Imperials in the preliminary final on September 7 at Sarah Oval.

The win did come at a cost for Robinvale Euston however with star utility Leon Johnson going down with a suspected ACL injury in the first quarter of the match.

Wentworth were also hit hard by injury with Kaine Behr and Aaron Duck (concussion) and Sam Dane (wrist) hospitalised before half time.

On the netball court Ouyen United advanced to the preliminary final with a thrilling 45-44 win over reigning premiers South Mildura.
