Sunraysia falls to Heathcote District in football, netball interleague

SUNRAYSIA coach Brad Hards lamented his side’s ball use in the SFNL’S 35-point interleague loss to Heathcote District in today’s interleague clash at Sarah Oval.

Despite an encouraging start to the match, leading going into quarter time, Sunraysia were eventually overpowered by a strong and skilful visiting side 14.13 (97) to 8.14 (62).

“We were our own worst enemy out there probably, too many turnovers,” Hards said post-match.

“We just gave them a lot of the ball, a lot of opportunity.

“We had plenty ourselves but we couldn’t quite get the score on the board.”

Ouyen United utility Mitch Taylor was awarded Sunraysia’s best player while North Bendigo’s Darcy Richards was Heathcote’s best, providing a strong target all day.

On the netball court Heathcote District also came away with the win in a thriller 50-49 over the Loretta Thompson-coached Sunraysia side.

Merbein defender Johannah Gray was Sunraysia’s best on court, with Heathcote defender Anna-Grace Close the visitors’ best.
