Melissa Hickey to be the top Cat

MELISSA Hickey has been appointed Geelong’s first AFLW captain.

Hickey, who is the female ambassador for Sunrasyia’s local women’s football competition, joined the Cats from Melbourne were she was vice-captain to Daisy Pierce.

The 33-year-old, whose grandfather was the cousin of Geelong champion Reg Hickey, has had a highly decorated career and is one of six players named in Geelong’s leadership group for 2019.
