Wentworth’s Christie Becker and Merbein’s Chloe Lewis win Sunraysia netball best and fairest

A PAIR of defenders couldn’t be split for the Jackie Horkings Medal in an intense vote count at tonight’s Sunraysia A Grade netball best and fairest.

Wentworth’s Christie Becker and Merbein’s Chloe Lewis each polled 23 votes to share the award.

In round 16, Becker attracted three votes against Imperials to catch Lewis and South Mildura’s Demalza Henry in the lead on 18.

Becker then pulled ahead with a three-vote game against Red Cliffs, enough to edge out Lewis, who claimed only two votes in round 17.

Henry failed to poll.

It set up a final-round showdown, with Becker and Lewis playing against each other in Wentworth and Merbein’s round 18 clash.
