Sunraysia football: Robinvale-Euston’s Cosi Ienco suspended for finals campaign

ROBINVALE-Euston footballer Cosi Ienco has been hit with a three-match suspension for striking by the SFNL independent tribunal.

Ienco will now miss his club’s elimination semi final with Irymple this weekend after being found guilty of striking Mildura’s Jack Howarth in the Eagles’ win on Saturday.

Ienco fronted the tribunal tonight after his club declined to accept the two-week set penalty prescribed following his report by field umpire Chris McCregor for intentionally striking Howarth during the third quarter of the match.

Ienco pleaded guilty to contact but argued the strike wasn’t intentional.

Ienco played 14 senior games this season, missing two after being found guilty of striking while playing for Sunraysia’s under 18 interleague side against Central Murray in March.

He has played 20 senior games overall since debuting in round six last year, also missing two games in 2017 after being found guilty of striking Irymple’s Nathan Hamence.
