Jarrod Brander battles on debut

WEST Coast Eagles coach Adam Simpson conceded Wentworth debutant Jarrod Brander and his fellow young forwards were left slightly exposed in their side’s 15-point loss to Sydney on Friday night at the SCG.

In the absence of Jack Darling, Eagles champion Josh Kennedy played almost a lone hand up forward with young teammates Liam Ryan (12 disposals, one goal), Willie Rioli (seven touches) and Brander (five disposals, one behind) struggling to have an impact.

“We got exposed in the front half with some of our younger players,” Simpson said.
