THE SFNL will meet in the next fortnight to discuss 2019 interleague plans, calling for the clubs to get on board as Sunraysia aims to climb back up the AFL Victoria Community Championships rankings.
Sunraysia returned to the championships on Saturday after a year’s hiatus in 2017 due to financial reasons compounded by concerns about poor player buy-in.
Although beaten by 41 points at Swan Hill by Central Murray, SFNL board member Bernard Rigby, who holds the interleague portfolio, was optimistic about the league’s prospects.
“We’ve already started talking about having a debrief in a couple of weeks, making some plans if we have to travel,” Rigby said.
“Ultimately it’s up to the clubs – do they want our interleague ranking to be 20th or do we want to be 10th, or eighth?”
