Wentworth look forward to better returns

WENTWORTH had “a big emphasis on forward-line work” over the bye to address what co-coach Sam Curran described as “a massive deficiency” in their game to date.

Winless Wentworth have struggled to score and managed a total of 110 points from their three matches.

This included alarming returns of one goal (against Robinvale-Euston) and three goals (Mildura) either side of a healthier 12.6 in a 17-point loss to South Mildura.

“Our back six is doing OK, our midfield group are going all right, we’ve just been focusing on taking marks in forward 50, which was something we couldn’t do against Mildura and ultimately cost us the game,” Curran said.

“We had as much footy as them, we just couldn’t take those marks … whether that was a movement thing or just blokes blazing away, we’ve reviewed the game and had a good look at it and can clearly see what it was.”
