Bob Utber’s major mission

FOOTBALL and Australia’s military history are linked at Villers-Bretonneux in France.

The sister city of Robinvale has been hosting games put on by AFL Europe for 10 years over the week of Anzac Day, celebrating the close link between Australia and that part of France.

Local sporting identity Bob Utber made the pilgrimage this year to honour the occasion as well as help promote Australia’s game even more to the people of Villers-Bretonneaux.

“The main purpose is to celebrate the 100 years since the Australians defeated the Germans in Villers-Bretonneux and, ironically, on Anzac Day in 1918,” Utber said.
