SFNL: Mildura look to promising signs in carnival

MILDURA are far from panic stations heading into round 1 this weekend, despite a 91-point loss to Imperials in their pre-season carnival match.

Rather, a competitive first two quarters before adopting a more experimental approach to the second half, and the promising debut of basketball convert Regan Cavallaro, are cause for optimism in the Demons camp.

Playing coach Heath Caldwell said the Demons would make several changes for their season opener against South Mildura at Sarah Oval on Saturday.

The Demons, who have lost a host of key players from the team that took them to a preliminary final last year, managed one goal after quarter-time against Imperials last weekend.
