Ex-Tigers strike for Bendigo Pioneers

TWO Red Cliffs products booted goals as the Bendigo Pioneers started the 2018 TAC Cup season with a thrilling one-point win on Saturday.

The Pioneers trailed Greater Western Victoria Rebels by 19 points at three quarter time before kicking four goals to one in the final term to win 10.8 (68) to 8.13 (67).

Red Cliffs’ Kailen Walker and former Tiger Liam Marciano, who now plays for Bendigo club Golden Square, started brightly by each kicking a goal in the first quarter.

Marciano went on to be named among the Pioneers’ best players. It was the first time in five years the Pioneers have won their opening game of the season.
