AFL Victoria has warned local clubs against non-compliance with its salary cap system next year, but downplayed the likelihood of any flouting the rules.
Player points allocation and salary cap figures for 2018 were recently released to Sunraysia and Millewa clubs, following a “transition year” in which the salary cap system was introduced in the local leagues this season.
AFL Victoria’s Sunraysia, Central Murray and Wimmera region general manager Bruce Petering said there would be “an expectation that clubs get compliance 100 per cent right” next year.
“There will be more education in the new year to make sure that happens, with any changeover of personnel, but they’ve taken to it really well,” he said.
