Derek waits on the draft

MCLEOD Medallist Derek Eggmolesse-Smith says he will play the waiting game regarding his footballing future.

The 19-year-old Wentworth product, who shared the 2016 McLeod Medal with Irymple’s Nathan Hamence and Merbein’s Ash Rowe, moved to Melbourne this year and broke into the Richmond VFL team – reportedly putting him on the radar to be drafted.

“They haven’t spoken to me much,” Eggmolesse-Smith said.

“I’m just trying to avoid it … wait until draft night and see what happens.”
