Mildura too good for Imperials

MILDURA’S B Grade netballers claimed their sixth flag since 2006 with a heart-stopping, two-goal overtime win over co-tenants Imperials on Saturday.

After a heartbreaking one-goal loss to South Mildura in last year’s decider, Toni Dean – who has coached for eight out of the past nine years – and her charges avenged that with a 39-37 win.

For the past 11 years the Demons have made the finals in every season and played in 10 grand finals, winning in 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2015 before Saturday’s success.

Individual success has also come, with six league best-and-fairest Walder Hyder medallists since 2006.
