Spencer comes full circle

Mildura half-forward and defensive midfielder Ashley Spencer, 29, knows well that football tends to be cyclical.

Running out for his 200th game tonight at Red Cliffs under lights at Quandong Park, Spencer still remembers 12 years ago doing the same for his first on a cold night at Tigerland.

Spencer was 15 that day, round 1 2005, when he was called up to the Ryan O’Callaghan-coached senior side.

“I can remember (Robinvale and Red Cliffs premiership coach) Troy Moncur played one game for us that year, he played that game,” Spencer said.
