At 37, the former Carlton and Port Adelaide midfielder made the late call to take to the field with Red Cliffs and, as a result, was not quite at the fitness level he’d like to have been.
“It’s taken me a while to get going. Obviously I didn’t do much of a pre-season or anything, so I was pretty underdone to say the least at the start of it,” Stevens said.
“I’m starting to find it pretty good now and starting to run out the games a little bit better. But most of all I’m just enjoying being back out playing and having a bit of fun.”
