Thanks, from the heart

I SAT at my desk this week trying to figure out what my Last Serve was going to look like.

What would I say, what could I say, but honestly, I struggled to find the words other than thank you.

Thank you for allowing me and the rest of the sports team the privilege of writing about everything sport in Sunraysia.

It’s been an amazing experience and hopefully when this crazy thing called coronavirus is over, I will be back writing this column again.

The Serve has been an outlet to voice my opinion and share my thoughts with anyone who could be bothered reading it.

I hope you have enjoyed it as much as I have had writing it.

I know not everyone has always agreed with what I’ve had to say, but hopefully what I have said has been entertaining and sometimes made a little bit of sense.

Sport is such a wonderful thing, it evokes every emotion inside you and provides an avenue to forget your troubles for a while.

Over the past couple of years I’ve witnessed some great sporting achievements and memorable moments and I’m sure in time I will get to see plenty more.

Our Saturday afternoons for awhile won’t be the same.

No footy, no netball, hockey, tennis or bowls – all suspended, while we sit and wait.

It’s a bit like this column, on hold but not finished.

I’m planning on being back at some stage, when that is, I’m not sure.

The one thing I know is the final siren has not sounded yet.

There is still a lot to be said and plenty of topics to be debated

Take care over this difficult time and hopefully it’s sooner than later, we are back.

But until then – thank you.
