Robinvale housing project takes next step

THE next stage of the Robinvale Housing Project is under way, with the construction of four houses starting in Ronald Street over the past couple of weeks.

This is the second part of the two-stage project, which saw four houses constructed and sold last year.

Swan Hill Mayor Stuart King said the idea behind the project is to help ease the pressure of Robinvale’s housing crisis, particularly for workers.

“Housing supply shortfalls have a significant impact on rural communities – with unfilled jobs, loss of productivity and ultimately a negative impact on our gross regional product,” Cr King said.

“This project is expected to not only provide new houses for Robinvale workers but will stimulate the local economy and encourage others to develop, too.”

Each home can house up to six people, with three bedrooms, two bathrooms and two car spaces, providing space for 24 workers in total. The houses all feature reverse cycle air conditioning, built-in wardrobes, a private and secure backyard with an undercover entertainment area, and a double garage.

The eight townhouses in total have been funded the Regional Development Victoria and the Swan Hill Council.

Funding from the sale of the initial four houses as part of stage one of the development has contributed to the funding of stage two.

The date of completion for the project has not yet been confirmed.
