Candidate statement: Katie Clements (Greens)

AS you venture out today to participate in the democratic process, please don’t take this right for granted.

There is no such thing as a wasted vote. Seriously consider voting No.1 for me as the Greens candidate for Mildura.

The Greens have policies that have been fully costed and that can be implemented to improve health, housing and education outcomes for us in the country.

We are bearing the brunt of the climate crisis with more severe weather events being recorded every year – and more predicted to come.

We are also bearing the brunt of a local health crisis as a doctor shortage has been building for many years. The housing crisis will exacerbate the issue and could possibly affect attracting other professionals like education staff.

Let’s show the major parties that social and environmental policies matter, now.

The Greens have a plan to make big corporations pay their fair share so we can provide the things we all need for a better future. The Greens will increase health funding by an extra $5 billion, and focus on the forgotten areas of disease prevention, dental and mental health care.

I sincerely thank those who have already cast their vote at the pre-poll centre and who have entrusted me with their first choice on the ballot.

I have also had messages of support from people who have different political alliances but who can appreciate the courage and commitment it takes to stand as a candidate. Please, make your vote count.
