Ley joins Dutton in new Lib leadership team

FARRER MP Sussan Ley is the deputy leader of the Liberal Party following a leadership spill in Canberra today.

Ms Ley was unopposed for the role and replaces former treasure Josh Frydenberg as deputy to the newly elected leader of the Liberal Party, Peter Dutton, during Monday morning’s spill.

Former prime minister Scott Morrison congratulated Mr Dutton and Ms Ley saying they were “incredibly experienced and well-versed”. Mr Frydenberg, who lost his seat in the election, was not in attendance.

Ms Ley, who has held the seat of Farrer since 2001, takes on the deputy leader role after having held the health and environment portfolios in previous Coalition governments.
