Greens ask for vote for a better world

Sam McColl, Greens

MY name is Sam, and I’m your Greens candidate for Mallee at the upcoming federal election.

I am a young, rural-minded community leader who grew up in the small town of Ararat.

I work as a venue manager at a small arts charity, and also as a COVID surge responder with the state ambulance service.

This election is our most important yet, and it is up to all of us to vote for people who will fight for a better future.

The Greens will make dental and mental health care free and we will ensure everyone can get the care they need when they need it by funding our hospitals and clearing public hospital surgery waiting lists.

The Greens also plan to make telehealth a permanent part of our Medicare system, which will improve access to health care for those living in the Mallee.

We will abolish HECS debt, and make education free from childcare and school, all the way through to university and TAFE, and we will ensure that teachers, trainers, support staff, academics and early childhood educators are paid properly.

The mining and burning of coal and gas is a key reason we now face a climate crisis.

The Greens plan includes:

– Immediately banning the construction of new coal, oil and gas infrastructure, ensuring we can transition our economy to zero carbon energy while maintaining a safe climate.

– Phasing out the mining, burning and export of thermal coal by 2030 to ensure we do our bit, so the world does not go over the 1.5 degree climate cliff.

By making billionaires pay their fair share of tax we can tackle the climate crisis, reduce economic inequality and create a better life for all.

Vote 1 Greens if you would like to live in a better world.Sam McColl, Australian Greens
