A PRIVATE Facebook group called Mildura Against ABC Cuts has launched in an attempt to help support the public broadcaster.
The Facebook group has more than 400 members and aims to stop Federal Government cuts to the ABC.
The Federal Government announced a pause in indexation of ABC funding last week.
The pause means the value of funding declines in real terms and the ABC is attempting to find savings to the vale of $84 million, including hundreds of job losses across the organisation and cuts to programs.
The Mildura Facebook group is calling on Member for Mallee Anne Webster to speak to Minister for Communications Paul Fletcher and ask him to unfreeze the ABC’s funding and enter into negotiations to improve regional reporting.
