A NEW mayor will be elected to Wentworth Council on Monday following Melisa Hederics' sudden resignation last week.
Deputy mayor Tim Elstone will contest the top job for the first time and said the council needed to forge ahead with the progress it had already made under Cr Hederics' leadership.
