Warrant issued: Brother’s murder among Cohrs’ alleged offences in NSW

AN arrest warrant has been issued for former Wentworth Shire councillor Paul Cohrs for the alleged shooting murder of his brother Raymond at Lake Victoria Station on October 30 last year.

Mr Cohrs, 59, is in custody in Victoria awaiting a committal hearing into the shooting death of his mother Bette Cohrs, 82, at Red Cliffs on the same day.

Police say they will monitor the outcome of legal proceedings in Victoria for the return of Mr Cohrs to NSW over the latest charges.

As well as an allegation of murder, the NSW warrant also relates to seven other alleged offences, including detaining of a witness and firearm offences.

It is understood the detaining of a witness allegation relates to a real estate agent who accompanied Raymond Cohrs, 63, on a prearranged meeting at a Rufus River property on the day of the shootings.

The meeting is believed to have been about the sale of the property.

Police found Paul Cohrs at the property with a “significant” gunshot wound to his torso area.

A hearing at Mildura Magistrates’ Court in May this year was told a 90-minute recording taken from a body camera inside an ambulance would form part of the prosecution case on the charge of murdering his mother.

Ms Cohrs was killed at her house in Red Cliffs while a four-year-old child was inside.

Her funeral service was told she was giving, caring, selfless person who was always most generous of herself.

Police seized at least two vehicles and several firearms as part of their investigations into the deaths.

One and a half days has been set aside for the Victorian committal hearing.
