A MAN missing for more than four decades whose car was located south of Mildura is most likely dead, a coroner has found.

The last known sighting of 27-year-old Peter Christofidis was about noon on March 14, 1983, when his sister Anna saw him driving away from the family home in Cheltenam having been told by her mother that he intended going away for a few days for a break.
