A MAN has been warned to expect to be punished "severely" if he continued to carry "nasty" weapons around.

The Mildura Magistrates' Court heard 23-year-old Frederick Butler was caught on January 13 carrying a pair of knuckledusters which he told police he had for his own safety after strangers had approached him in the street and made threats.
