A MAN has been taken into custody after a fire at a unit at Sarnia Avenue, Mildura.

Fire Rescue Victoria with the support of the Country Fire Authority responded to a blaze at 6.16am on Tuesday, after a member of the public called 000 reporting a house fire.

Crews arrived on scene within four minutes to find smoke issuing from a unit.
