A SERIAL thief was nabbed by police after he provided his correct name and telephone number to join a membership club at a store from which he had just robbed.

Mark Cornwell was arrested on Thursday after police intercepted a bus that was just about to leave the city.

He subsequently admitted in Mildura Magistrates' Court to a series of shop thefts and an assault on police.
