A SUGAR-fixated Mildura bandit who threatened to cut a supermarket staffer's head off with a machete has been released after 79 days in pre-sentence detention.

Jonathon Peterson appeared via video link in Mildura Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, and pleaded guilty to 12 charges including unlawful assault, theft, and property damage.
