VICTORIA Police have announced a festive road safety push is now underway.

Dubbed Operation Roadwise, the 20 day effort got underway late last week with officers placing an emphasis on impaired driving due to alcohol and illicit drug consumption.

Assistant Commissioner Glenn Weir said the end of the year could pose a risk to all road users, and police would be out and about on regional roads.
