A MAN accused of hitting a woman about the head with a tree branch leaving her bloodied and bruised has been refused bail on further allegations that he left her lying on a footpath with a laceration to her head.

The Mildura Magistrates' Court heard the pair were on a Dareton street in the early hours of the morning this month when the accused snapped a branch from a tree and hit the victim over the head
