A MAN took the "fancy option" when he stole more than $100 worth of meat from an Irymple supermarket, a court has been told.

The Mildura Magistrates' Court heard that instead of going after some "cheap snags", the 68-year-old aged care pensioner chose porterhouse steaks when he attended at the Ritchies IGA store on Fifteenth Street in Irymple.
