A MAN'S distinctive tattoos helped to land him in jail after he was complicit in an "alarming crime wave" earlier this year.

The Mildura Magistrates' Court was told 23-year-old Kolbi Ridley's leg and hand tattoos were captured on closed circuit television while he was driving a stolen vehicle as well as during a break-in at a solar farm at Liparoo.
