A MAN affected by drugs and alcohol says he had no intention to frighten his mother this week when he told her he was hearing voices telling him to kill her, a court has been told.

The Mildura Magistrates' Court heard the 25-year-old had been smoking marijuana and drank six long-neck bottles of full-strength beer before he made the the threat, which caused his mother to fear for her safety.
