A MAN who launched a "truly brutal" assault on a woman he believed had been spreading rumours about him has been jailed.

The Mildura Magistrates' Court heard Jahvid Enoch Gadd punched the victim numerous times, threw her to the ground and attempted to kick her "into the next yard" in an attack that was captured on a security camera at the woman's home.
