POLICE are appealing for public assistance to help identify a man captured on CCTV.

Mildura police said they believed the man was casing vehicles parked in a shopping centre carpark on Fifteenth Street between 9am and 11am on April 10.

According to police, he returned a short time later on a motorcycle, stole tools from a ute and put them inside a backpack before fleeing.
