A MALAYSIAN man who has been living in Australia illegally for about 12 years says he turned to drug trafficking out of desperation after he could not secure work in Robinvale.

Boon Chun Lee was sentenced to four months' jail after pleading guilty to trafficking methamphetamines, possessing a drug of dependence and dealing with property suspected of being the proceeds of crime.
