THE Mildura Christie Centre expects to raise more than $5500 from this week’s annual charity golf day.
More than 100 golfers turned out at Mildura Golf Resort in Wednesday’s brilliant sunshine for the event, previously known as the Police and Fireman’s Charity Golf Day.
Christie Centre project manager Sue Morisset said the event was again well supported by both regular competitors as well as first-time players.
“We couldn’t have ordered better weather and, while we haven’t done the final tally yet, we expect to raise more than $5500, which is fantastic,” she said.
“The final field of 106 was sensational and the funds raised will again go towards the services which we provide.”
Golfers had the chance to walk away with a new car valued at more than $50,000 if they could ace the par-three 10th hole.
Ben Hogan got within 19cm to claim the day’s nearest-the-pin award and Shay Toma hit the longest drive, while a Victoria Police team won the overall Ambrose competition.
