Services needed

I’VE read with great enthusiasm yesterday’s reports on Building the Base and efforts to return the Mildura passenger train service – two prolonged hangovers from the Kennett-era of destroying public services while enriching a few, masked as neo-liberal economic salvation.

It’s inspiring to see continued advocacy and support, despite the shrieking of a few die-hard fans who’d rather deny services to the corridor while our taxes support train services across the rest of the state.

We’ve been tightening the belt for the entire state for far too long, with nothing to show for it.

What is noticeably absent from this process is any effort by our state and federal MPs to support either of these transformative projects.

They are either completely out of touch with their electorate or it doesn’t align with their party that apparently works for the regions.

I’m confused how such vital services, providing health and connecting us to the city, can be ignored by highly paid politicians and even more baffled trying to understand this electorate’s cycle of voting in inept actors, then complain about our neglect.
