‘Sovereign citizens’ slammed

I MUST express my concern and my worries regarding the ‘Sovereign Citizen movement’.

In recent years, they have morphed from an interaction you would laugh with stupidly on YouTube with their ‘I do not consent’ interactions, to full on disrespect for our police officers, the law and the mockery of our laws.

It is a very dangerous ideology to harbour and to express as evident with the Porepunkah shooting in our state’s high country and the Outback Queensland shooting.

This is not a joke, it is a serious threat to our societal fabric. We must be careful and concerned especially regarding their death threats to Magistrates, disrespect of our police and the use of violence, cumulating in a Ned Kelly style shootout with police.

They use pseudo-law (unfounded and rather laughable) and Latin terminology common in law to sound knowledgeable, however they are ignorant, arrogant and have a sense of superiority. Magistrates have laughed at cases before them and rightfully so.

We must treat this movement, as well as these neo-Nazi ‘tru Blu crew’, ‘national socialist network’ etc as terrorist organisations.

Anyone who says they are ‘sovereign citizens’ must and should be placed on the terror watch list and monitored by ASIO, ABF and AFP.

Even if you are a monetary contributor, you should be on the watch list. To me, it’s no different to financing Al-Shabaab overseas for instance.

Dezi Freeman is a true coward, runs away when the going gets tough. He is no one to look up to. A true coward, along with Thomas Sewell.

These Sovereign citizens’ are a massive threat to democracy and our way of life. Admittedly I laughed at their interactions during COVID, however it has become more serious and not a laughing matter anymore.

Most, as evident, have been Christian or religious so more of a reason to question religion as religion is a cancer in society. Perhaps this just confirms religion is what is wrong with society?

This movement along with other far right wing groups, must be labelled a terrorist organisation.

If you identify yourself as a ‘Sovereign Citizen’ then you should be in the terror watch list.

Even if you jokingly say you are a ‘Sov Cit’, it should be treated just the same as proclaiming yourself to a terrorist organisation and jokes should be viewed just the same.

This is a dangerous slippery slope very much and I’m concerned. I can laugh at these Chemtrail theorists and 5G with mockery, however this is a serious problem and threat we must take incredibly seriously.

Mildura
