Give a gift from the heart

By Teresa Jayet, CEO, Mallee Family Care

AS the end of the year approaches and the festive season draws near, people across the Mallee will be looking forward to connecting with friends, family and loved ones.

They will come together to celebrate, share a meal and exchange gifts.

While this is a joyous time for many, for others it can be extremely challenging.

The rising cost of living means many people are struggling to put food on the table, pay rent and buy essential medication, let alone purchase Christmas gifts.

Ensuring all children across the Mallee get to experience the joy of opening a gift on Christmas morning, regardless of their or their family’s circumstance, is what the Mallee Family Care Christmas Appeal is all about.

Thanks to generous donations from community groups, businesses and individuals, the Annual Appeal has allowed us to provide gifts for children and young people engaged in Mallee Family Care services and programs, for more than 20 years.

Once again, we’re inviting the community to support our Appeal in 2024, by purchasing unwrapped gifts for children.

This region is renowned for its ‘support your own’ mentality, with communities coming together to help others in need.

At Mallee Family Care, we are steadfast in our belief that all Mallee children matter, and the wonderful support we regularly receive shows that the wider community shares this belief too.

Already we have been overwhelmed by the response to our Appeal, with local businesses and community groups including Collie & Tierney First National Real Estate, Mildura Senior College, Monash University Rural Health, United Firefighters Union members at Mildura Fire Station, Lime Therapy, FINDEX, SuniTAFE, MADEC, PM Exercise Physiology & Rehabilitation, Mildura CFA and Seventh Day Adventist Church jumping on board.

We are extremely grateful for the support of local businesses and the wider community in coming together for such an important cause.

Mallee Family Care’s vision is for strong communities where individuals and families can live their best life, and community collaboration and robust partnerships are critical to this.

We are buoyed by the collective impact of initiatives like our Christmas Appeal, which highlight that together, we can make a difference for families and children in need.
