A crown for our stadium

IT’S been a while since royalty rolled into town.

Queen Elizabeth touched down here in 1954, Princess Diana graced us with her presence in 1985.

Now, 37 years later, Kings of Leon will come to town! (OK, that was just a joke. No disrespect to the Windsors).

Mildura is hosting the only regional showcase for the Australian leg of Kings of Leon’s When You See Yourself tour.

These world-renowned rockstars have a schedule that is taking them to some of the world’s most iconic cities – Manchester, Madrid, Budapest, Zurich, Auckland and Mildura!

It’s hard to believe that we’re kicking off the Australian tour leg on October 29, but it’s happening.

Securing this exclusive event is particularly impressive, given that Adelaide has missed out on the tour entirely.

Credit to the Victorian Government for being able to negotiate a regional gig and choosing us to host it!

The band’s visit to Mildura marks Kings of Leon’s first time back to Australia in nearly 11 years.

Around 15,000 tickets will be available from midday Tuesday for what is sure to be the biggest spectacle at the Mildura Sporting Precinct this year.

And it couldn’t come at a better time for our region.

After being battered and bruised from two years of the global pandemic, this is the kind of stimulus our community needs.

Music lovers are set to travel far and wide to be a part of this.

It’s right before the Melbourne Cup public holiday as well, so our tourism operators can bank on visitors sticking around for a bit to see what our region has to offer.

By securing this event, Mildura enters an elite club of towns selected by Visit Victoria to host exclusive one-off music concerts.

Katy Perry performed in Bright in the aftermath of the bushfires.

The Foo Fighters played in Geelong earlier this year, too.

Now Mildura gets its turn.

OutBackVic has so much to offer, and it’s great to see the Victorian Government catching on.
