MILDURA's "disturbing" drug overdose death rate - which has skyrocketed by 100 per cent in the past decade - shows why the region needs a drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre, Mildura Mayor Simon Clemence says.

Australia's Annual Overdose Report showed there were 20 overdose deaths in Mildura from 2013-17 compared to 10 from 2003-07.
