SUNRAYSIA aged-care facilities are struggling to meet the increased demand for respite care, the aged care royal commission heard yesterday.
At the final day of the Mildura public hearing, Chaffey Aged Care chief executive Darren Midgley and Princes Court Homes chief executive Jenny Garonne discussed challenges in respite care, as well as funding constraints and skill shortages.
Mr Midgley told the commission the need for respite care at Chaffey had grown substantially in the past three years from 813 respite care days in 2016-17 to 1821 in 2018-19.
