A MAN alleged to have assaulted a woman, including lifting her body off the ground with his hands around her neck, and threatened to burn her house down has been refused bail.

The Mildura Magistrates' Court heard the 34-year-old Kerry King had a significant drug habit and the allegation of strangulation was indicative of his escalating behaviours.
