A LEAD investigator with the Australian Conservation Foundation has criticised the transparency of the Federal Government's environment compliance unit.

Annica Schoo described the Federal Government as a "bit of a closed book" when she was asked how long it would take for its submission about potentially unlawful land clearing exercises in south-
