WITH the mercury spiking back up again after a few days of reprieve, Victorian fire authorities have declared Saturday, February 21 a day of total fire ban in Mallee.

The ruling also applies to Wimmera, North Central, South West, and Central regions and comes with an extreme fire danger rating with wind gusts tipped up to 100kp/h and temperatures reaching the low 40s.
